This page shows an 1855 map of Mirfield. From this map, it is clear that Mirfield had a significant amount of industry 150 years ago. Notice the Ledgard Bridge Colliery (just south of Mirfield Station) and the malt kilns along the canal. It is also interesting to note that the railway through Mirfield was in those days known as the "Yorkshire Railway".
