The Town Centre occupies a half-mile stretch of the Dewsbury-Huddersfield road with the former Town Hall at the Dewsbury end and Ings Grove Park at the Huddersfield end. This road carries a lot of traffic for such a small town.

The Black BullThis photograph shows the bustling town centre. The Black Bull public house and market place are in the centre of the picture. Comparisons with photographs around 1900 show that this pub has retained its character to the present day.

Turn left at these traffic lights and you're heading in the direction of Huddersfield. Turn right and you're heading towards Dewsbury (via Ravensthorpe).

Mirfield Library

This photograph shows the library and its gardens. The library is a good source of information about Mirfield. They usually have a few interesting books on sale and there's a large placard on the wall in the reference section that has a wealth of historical stuff about Mirfield.

Ings Grove Park

This photograph shows Ings Grove Park Memorial, unveiled just after the First World War in 1921.

The original Ings Grove House has since been demolished.

Mirfield Town Hall

This is Mirfield Town Hall. It opened in 1868 and even had accommodation for those working there. Since 1903, it has served a whole range of purposes - from nightclub to its current function as a Salvation Army citadel.

The road to the right is Knowl Road.
