I've included a couple of maps for the benefit of those people who have never heard of Mirfield and who don't know where it's located. In fact, Mirfield is approximately 200 miles north of London in the county of West Yorkshire and is half way between the west and east coasts.

The first is a hand-drawn map of the district now known as Kirklees. It shows Mirfield in relation to its neighbouring towns, particularly Huddersfield and Dewsbury. The Kirklees district extends from Marsden in the south-west to Birstall in the north-east.

The second map shows Mirfield itself and includes areas such as Mirfield Moor,
Northorpe, Crossley, Battyeford and Lower Hopton. The River Calder can be clearly seen going from west to east.
