Mirfield has plenty of pubs and clubs. I have listed just a few of these on this page.

Three NunsThis is the famous Three Nuns public house, parts of which date from the fourteenth century. It is very much associated with the legend of Robin Hood and stands on the grounds that were once occupied by Kirklees Priory, attended by three nuns whose names were Joan de Heton, Elizabeth de Hopton and Alice le Ragged.

Old maps of this area show that there used to be many coal mines in the vicinity of the Three Nuns.

Shoulder of Mutton

This picture shows the Shoulder of Mutton as it used to be until recently, when it was renovated. It's only about 200 yards from my first school, Lee Green infants. Now there's a thought!

Old Bank ClubI couldn't possibly create a pictorial guide to Mirfield without including Old Bank Working Men's Club, shown here. I used to be a member here until very recently. I don't suppose they had too many members living 200 miles away. No visit to Mirfield would ever be complete without a pint of Tetley's bitter at t'club.

Notice the bowling green in the foreground. Display cabinets inside the club are filled with trophies won by Old Bank WMC Bowls Teams.
